$8000 extra SS benefits found for widow!
Having been recently widowed I needed a financial counselor to start the Social Security process. I had been attending a financial planning series taught by Paul Hamilton. When I first applied for SS by telephone I was directed to take my widow’s benefit of a few hundred dollars with no mention of my own, smaller benefit. Paul evaluated my situation and went with me to the SSA office. He was able to help me attain retroactive benefits based on my own earnings of $8000, and also starting full widow benefits.
Refinance and Roth IRA
Paul Hamilton reviewed my tax forms, investment portfolio, and mortgage statements. He recommended refinancing our mortgage, which is saving us $960 a year. We thought that we would have to extend our mortgage to 15 years but he showed us how to maintain the current payoff date. He also helped us rethink and implement a new investment strategy. Due to our family situation, we currently pay no Federal income taxes so it made sense to divert our retirement funds into a Roth IRA. We have been delighted by his sage advice and low-key but professional approach. Highly recommended!
